Algorithms and Protocols for Coordinated Capacity planning in IaaS Environments
The emergence of cloud computing in distributed systems, provides a means to on-demand access to set of virtual resources to meet varying resource and service requirements of cloud customers. Cloud providers with limited resource need to provision their resources efficiently, meanwhile provide acceptable level of QoS for their customers in order not to violate SLAs regarding the end users. On the other hand, prediction of the amount of required resource for near(or long) future enable the service providers to request for the amount of resources that they need. As a result, they will pay for actual resource usage. Therefore, estimation for future resource requirement is quite essential for both Infrastructure Providers(IP) and Service Providers(SP). This estimation of required resource is not possible without collaboration of both parties in exchanging information that both of them may need. Based on the information they exchange, SP is able to predict the actual resource usage and enable IP to manage resources more efficiently. This project is intend to first define a protocol for exchanging information between SPs and IPs. Second a novel reservation mechanism to reserve resource on cloud provider infrastructure and finally an approach to manage resources based on the reservation received from the service providers while considers cost and energy foot print.
